BACHELOR OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE (B.L.A.)

  • Philosophy

Bachelor of Landscape Architecture Program aims to create landscape architects who are respectful to the nature, ethical, and concerned about environmental conservation by means of Integration of knowledge, skills, and professional practices for creating designed, planned, and sustainable built environment.

  • Objectives

    • Create qualified graduates who have public consciousness, environmental ethics, and concerned about environmental conservation. Provide adequate skills and knowledge for the graduates to work in standard landscape profession with ethics
    • Create graduates who are understood and concerned about local wisdom and local identity for proper applying to the landscape profession
    • Develop learning process through multi-disciplinary approach and integrating knowledge from both academic and professional. Provide up to date knowledge and sustainable development concept in mind

CURRICULUM

1st year

Design in two, three or four dimensions, spaces, structures, and meaning Art and industrial design concerning environmentally-friendly concepts including Practices in basic architectural design using human proportion and behaviors. Design of architectural elements, forms, spatial arrangements and site planning of residential building appropriate for tropical environment, building structure and aesthetics. Creation of sustainable environment.

2nd year

Practice is basic architectural design, house and small public buildings, design concepts, site planning and space arrangements of a building suitable for a tropical environment and practice in basic level of landscape architectural design. Designing and planning small environments, domestic garden, community center and public building cluster responding to human behaviors and respecting to the environment.

3rd year

Practice in basic level of landscape architectural design in uncomplicated environment. Design circulation system and environment for resort, design and planning housing project, sport complex, and park, and institute. Practice in developing a design concept, for example, theme park: amusement park, zoo and botanical garden including practice in intermediate level of landscape architectural design in complicated environment. Design circulation system, grading, drainage design, environmental design. Study of laws, regulations and special requirements in design and planning housing project according to sustainable development concept.

Practice in intermediate level of landscape architectural design, sustainable and conservational design focusing on natural area and valuable cultural landscape. Projects include national park and forest park, coastal conservation, agricultural land conservation, degraded land rehabilitation, and eco-tourism planning. In addition, practice in advanced level of landscape architectural design. Designing and planning urban landscape, waterfront landscape and historical area by selecting conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of urban environment in response to sustainable development concept.
